An update on the Antifa member Benjamin Anthony Varela from Olympia, Washington who shot Tusitala "Tiny" Toese on 9/4/2021 at the Transit Center.
It appears Varela has entered into a please bargain as of 09/21/2022 with the superior courts and has been convicted of First-degree assault with a deadly weapon which under RWC 9A.36.011 is a Class A Felony. He is also forced to pay restitution/fee of $500
Thurston County Superior Courts recommended 5 months of incarceration with credit for time served.
Varela was originally arrested 9/27/2021 and released on $100,000 bail 10/21/2022 less than one month after his initial arrest.
He is now currently serving his time remaining 5 month's sentence as of 10/1/2022 with information on his booking below:
